One of a Kind
Deep brown mohair bear is relieved from monotony by the tan backing.Add a nose stitched in black and brown perle cotton and caramel brown eyes for character.
Caleb wears an antique button trimmed brown hat and whiten linen collar bordered in red and paisley silk bow tie.
The little Folk Art sampler is a mystery as to what it was intended for as its stuffed with straw and hand stitched around the edges. Im still trying to decide what the letters spell out and their meaning.

We have all had small pets that we have lovingly buried.
And so goes Petey the Canary .
He is made of mohair with lolling head and sightless eyes and was cherished enough to be buried in this reliquary box lined in mohair and decorated with ribbons and floral trim.

I so enjoy finding these little cupboards for sale and making them into something delightful, showcasing bear ,costume, wallpaper, and small details.
Sweetheart is a coral mohair bear in vintage lace trimmed dress with green accents and her tiny tagged Steiff bunny. She is fully jointed with German glass eyes and stitched nose.
The wooden cupboard is chippy white paint with soft green painted door and glass window. The inside has been papered in pale, green sage, and willow print with small vintage card.
So sweet to display.

These small 10 inch trunks are a delight to play with. This one has been repapered and ribbon trimmed.
Claire,the bear is made of honey colored mohair with German glass eyes and is fully jointed.
She wears vintage jeans and plaid shirt and a tiny vintage plaid jumper hangs in her trunk to redress her.
Her furry corgi goes with her and has his own little basket.

I couldn’t resist this charming polkadot dress from the 1940s and designed the bear around the colors and the size. To the dress I added the additional lace collar bowtie, and multiple buttons. Delighted, I was find the red vintage hat in my stash and the proper flowers to trim it.
She carries a little red suitcase with hanky of the day and vintage Japanese wristwatch on her arm.
As always, fully jointed with German glass eyes and a stitched nose.

As a doll lover at heart, I can’t resist tiny dresses to be able to make Bears to wear, especially when you have just the right color Mohair to highlight the bear.
Mimi is made of short amethyst Mohair with tiny German glass eyes and a stitched nose. She’s fully jointed. And the dress has been detailed with antique lace,Old ribbons and velveteen
flowers.
She sits on the perfect vintage pin cushion in basket in coordinating colors with a bit of greenery.
Her little doll was hand made many years ago.

Finding the 3 inch long Mohair for her head is getting increasingly difficult but it’s just the look Miss Lily needs.

They went to sea in a beautiful Pea green boat with lots of honey and plenty of money wrapped up in a 5 pound note.
Pussy Cat is gold and cream Alpaca with Bright green German glass eyes, sculpted nose and green bandana. Fully jointed . He carries an old paper and wood accordion to sing along to sea shanties.
Mr Owl is all mohair in 3 colors- cream, brown tipped and dark brown head with sculpted beak and Winking eye. Jointed head only .
Boat is shades of green with spatters of gold and yellow paint across the bow with green and tan stripped sail and tiny crows nest.

ABOUT
ME
China Cupboard Bears grew out of my love of Antique dolls and Costuming and was a natural extension of my background in Fashion Design. I am constantly amazed at how my skills from my variety of jobs have contributed to what I do. From my first job sewing clothes for dogs to my years as a Florist, stint in the Bridal Market, three years as a Mascot Costume Designer and 30 plus years as a Mother of 4 which taught me Time Management!
Started in the late 1980's when my doll collection outgrew the house I started to do doll shows to weed out my collection and find new things. When I ran out of antique dolls to re-sell I started to make stuffed dolls and teddy bears. The bears started to sell and a business was born.
Who knew it would be so rewarding and take me all over the United States, Europe and Japan and find that so many people speak "BEAR"! How rewarding to continue to be creative , my ultimate goal. What an extraordinary number of wonderful people I have met over the years, collectors, fellow artists and business folk.
After 30 plus years I am still striving to offer the unexpected. Sweet loveable faces, wonderful fabrics and trim, interesting antiques or vintage additions, all with a sense of humor to hopefully make you smile.

Payment by PayPal preferred. It's the safest, fastest easiest way to pay for you items and you don't have to have a PayPal account to pay!

***Shipping in the US is free. International orders will be based on USPO rates by address.
Items will be shipped Monday via FedEx, UPS or Priority Mail (whichever is best suited for the piece), and will be
insured. Custom fees are the responsibility of the buyer.
To keep your costs low I ship items in the smallest box possible and using recycled materials such as bubble wrap or crumbled paper for padding, to reduce weight. This also keeps my business "green"!!
Refunds will be given if you are not completely happy
with the item you purchased. You must contact me
within 48 hours of receipt and ship item back
promptly in original packaging and in original, new
condition. Refund less shipping expenses will be
made once item is received.
